What Is Needed To Run A Successful Riding School?
Do you have a passion for horse riding? If so, you might be thinking about turning this into a business to share that passion with others. This isn’t as easy as it may seem, you need to have a lot of things in place to open a riding school. You will need to have all the relevant paperwork in place such as insurance.

Site
First of all, you need to find the right location for your business. This can be tricky as it needs to tick a lot of boxes. It needs to have
the space available not only for the stables but also for equipment, storage, and hay. So what might seem like the perfect space might not be suitable when you look into what you actually need on site.
You could of course buy a huge patch of land rather than look for an already built area. Once you have purchased the land you could arrange for a company to erect you some stables and other buildings. Using a company to build you some
steel frame buildings might be an easier option as then you can get exactly what you wanted.
Once you have everything you need you can move on to the next step.
Horses & Equipment
So you have the site now it is time to invest in some horses. You might already have your own horse that you use. You can of course bring that horse to its new home. You can purchase horses from existing riding schools that might be closing down. This happens quite a lot as riding school horses need to have amazing temperaments.
You will also need equipment to be used with the horses, such as saddles, bridles, and riding hats. It is a good idea to supply riders with hats if they don’t have their own so they can still ride. What a lot of riding schools do is charge for the rental of a riding hat which is a great way to make some extra funds.
Employees
Now you need to find the right employees for the job. People who work at riding schools are quite often volunteers. This is great as it saves you some money and the cash saved can be spent elsewhere. However, if you want
experts in the field to share their love of horses you should put some time and effort into finding the right people. Advertise for what you would like with a full job description then interview prospective employees. Once you have your staff you will be able to open your riding school.
Rewards
Most riding schools have some sort of rewards system for their regular users. Horse riding is not a cheap hobby, if you were to offer a free riding lesson or something like that after a certain amount of visits you will get more users.
You could also enlist the riders to help with mucking out and stuff like that so they can earn their riding lessons, this too is a common occurrence.
We hope you found this article helpful and fingers crossed you will have your riding school up and running in no time at all.
